EAST ANTRIM HOCKEY CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - 2002

East Antrim Hockey Club held their 100th Annual General Meeting on Saturday 27th April 2002. A quorum was achieved and the business of the day got underway with Jim Strange, chairman, congratulating current and former members on the achievement of the club turning 100 years old.

Those present heard comprehensive reports from the team captains and managed to agree a healthy set of accounts.

The main business of the day, however, was the election of office bearers for the incoming season. Derek Reade was appointed Club President with Jim Strange once again acting as Chairman. Michael Jackson, Stephen Swann and Graeme Reid took the senior posts of Secretary, Treasurer and Fixtures Secretary respectively.

Graeme Cooke became Youth Liaison Officer with schoolboy representatives to the committee being Eddie Baird and Mark McDonald.

Alan Burgess was appointed 1st XI captain and David Caldwell was appointed his side-kick. The dream team of Stuart Campbell and Paul Reid were once again tasked with looking after 2nd XI affairs. The 3rd XI appointments were deferred until the beginning of the season.

Other business conducted included a proposal for a change in strip. Indeed, in its centenary year, the club has decided to revert back to its original playing gear with all green shirts, white shorts and green socks.

Finally, those present were given an overview of centennial celebrations planned for the year. With two events already completed, the centenary committee are already well through their programme. A book launch, a tour, a match against a Junior Ulster team and a Dinner Dance are still in the planning phase!
