Billy Williamson was a member of Antrim in his early years before moving to live in Glengormley where he started to play for East Antrim in the early 60’s. Billy quickly became deeply involved in his new Club and remained a committed member until his untimely death in 1986.
President of the Ulster Branch in the 82/83 season, Billy was always proud of his Antrim / East Antrim connections.
His family presented a Cup in his memory and this has been competed for between the Clubs. After a few years in the wilderness, the trophy was dusted down and competed for once again, last night.
A 4-2 win for the Antrim team ensured that the trophy remained in their custody for a while longer, but the event proved to be a success. Both Clubs have agreed that the fixture should be an annual event and never forgotten about again.
