By Ronnie McDowell 2nd XI (c)

Its that half way point again....

Well now that christmas is over and everyone has had thier large fill of turkey I thought I would look back at the season so far For the second string. So far this season the 2nds have been on top of thier game with a blend of youth and senior players who have dropped down the leagues. So far we have won 4, drew 2 and lost 1. Not bad considering that we only won 3 all of last season and drew 2. Also taking into account that we have had to postpone a few matches because of a waterlogged pitch i dont think we are looking too bad. This seasons aim was to gain promotion from Junior 7 and to keep making steady progress next year in Junior 6. At the minute the club is in a rebuilding phase, a phase which through time and effort will eventually see us recruit more players and bring back the OLD EASTANTRIM. Something that I have noticed this season is the way people are actually enjoying playing hockey compared to last season, even know the 1st XI are not having the greatest of times everyone are prepared to muck in and get on with the game and ride the rough patch out. All in all the past few months have been succesfull for the 2nd’s and through time the club can rebuild the squad with more players and get us back on the up. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE AND HOPEFULLY COME MAY WE WILL BE CELEBRATING PROMOTION.
