The first and final practice match before the Ulster Branch President's XI game took the form of the entire Club splitting INTO two even teams for a "3 Half" epic.
Two even teams on paper they may have been, but any concept that this was to be a close fought contest was eradicated soon enough. The "Green" team took charge of the game early on as they pressured constantly. A high work-rate, passion for the ball and simple tactics were working well.
Conversely, the disappointing "Yellow" team, were devoid of ideas, foudn it difficult to get out of their own half and looked decidely uncomfortable on the ball.
So what happened? What does it mean to 1st XI selection for the coming season? Has the Captain & Vice-Captain learnt anything FROM the exercise?
So many questions... There's no doubt that some players will have played their way INTO Selection contention. Others may have played their way back onto the 2nds.
There's no doubt, though, that some players will have to take a long hard look at the way they performed with a view to starting to get their heads in order...
