First Edition Gang O’ Green
Many years ago (15 to be precise), the Gang O’ Green was published to critical acclaim. The weekly EAHC magazine was written and edited by Stephen Swann, Alan Wright and Raymond Hughes and copies were provided to all club members across all three competing teams.
The Gang O’ Green was a technical marvel at the time and lasted a number of years before the EAHC online presence removed any need for paper-based distribution of EAHC news.
During the few years that the "magazine" did run, however, it proved very popular.
This series of weekly articles will bring you the Gang O’ Green back issues (and, of course, the Green Piece as it was renamed in the mid 90s).
Issue 1 was typed up using a copy of Microsoft Write on a Windows 2.03 operating system running on a 8086 processor 8Mhz) with a 20Mb hard drive and a 5.25" floppy disk. Most of you won’t remember the monochrome version of Windows that dominated the late 80s!
The first edition was an A4 sized sheet printed on a single side and provided club members with various pieces of trivia such as results, forthcoming fixtures, committee members and, most importantly, comedy.
The Player Profile section would remain a feature for some time. Players, as you will see, were rarely interviewed in person!
Issue 1 is 707Kb in size and the quality is representative of the time! Enjoy...
