Juniors Do Ulster Proud!

As you are aware the Junior Interpros were held in Dublin at The Grange home of Three Rock Rovers over the weekend of 21st-23rd April!

The weekend didnt get of to a positive start on the friday with the squad being put down by the remaks of Nigel McCullough in his Newsletter column! This however was turned around and used as a motavational tool by players and management alike!

Saturady saw us defeat Connaught 3-2 after a hard fought match which set us up perfectly for sundays games against Leinster and Munster!

Sundays first match versus Leinster finished 1-1 but after being one down we showed our battling qualities to earn that well deserved draw which meant with other results we went into the Munster game needing a win to be victorious!

The Munster game had a cup final feel about it with us needing a win and them needing at least a draw!Anyone watching the game found it hard to believe that we hadnt scored before Munster took the lead with a short corner in the first half!Things got worse in the second half with Munster scoring a second again against the run if play!Heads dropped slightly before we scored with our short corner to regain some belief. We bombarded the Munster goal with short corner after short corner until finally with a minute to I popped up at the back post to grab the equaliser but unfortunately it wasnt enough so Munster came out tournament winners!

It has been three years since an Ulster squad have come close to winning the Interpros and it was my honour to captain this side who made Nigel McCullough eat his words!
