Vice-President Caught With The Police

For the last 5 years Jim Strange has helped out at the Belfast Festival at Queens by acting as a meeter and greeter. During this time he has met such names as Tony Benn, Nick Mason, Jimmy Carr, Mark Thomas, Ed Byrne, Dom Joly and Ibrahim Ferrer.

This year’s festival has just finished and there were a number of highlights and world class performances. From Jim’s point of view, the highlight was looking after one of the soloists at the closing concert. This was Andy Summers, the guitarist with The Police, one of the biggest British bands ever (pictured).

Andy arrived on Wednesday last and left on the following Monday so Jim spent a considerable amount of time with him at rehearsals, travelling and atleisure. He is still a brilliant guitarist although his genre these days is more classical and jazz oriented.

Other people Jim looked after this year were Marianne Faithfull, Joanne Harris and George Galloway.
