This week (13/03/2002) will see the first centenary event of the year take place when East Antrim Hockey Club host the School's Cup Final - The Burney Cup.
As everyone should be aware, Andrew Burney was a foudner member of East Antrim Hockey Club. He was also Ulster Branch President and presented a trophy to the branch for a schools' competition.
On Wednesday of this week, R.B.A.I. will take on Cookstown High School at Blaris - 3pm start. As part of the centenary celebrations, East Antrim Hockey Club are presenting a new trophy to the branch - Burney Cup Final Player of the Match. The trophy will be a perpetual trophy, awarded to the best player in the final.
The trophy will be presented by a senior East Antrim official.
The Centenary Committee would like to urge everyone to make an effort to attend the event. Should be a cracking match...
