The East Antrim website's good name has been dragged through the mud in recent days by a malicious "spammer"!
Most people will be aware of how spammers operate. They send emails to millions of email accounst in the hope that just a fraction of the recipients respond to their "offers".
One way they attempt to evade detection is by disguising themselves. They send emails with a "return address" which is a valid email account belonging to someone else.
Unfortunately, a spammer has used the eastantrim.co.uk domain name. Unfortunately, a number of emails sent by the spammer will not reach their destination. In fact, they will be returned to the "return address" specified.
Guess what... Inside the last 36 hours, over 2,000 emails have been returned to the eastantrim.co.uk email box - flooding the system.
It is expected that many more will arrive in the coming days.
If you receive an email which attempts to sell you viagra and seems to originate from an eastantrim.co.uk address, ignore it. It is a fake!
