Paul Reid has damaged the tendons in his lower back again and has been told by the osteopath not to play for at least 4 weeks.
"I am really disappointed to be sidelined as I have been really enjoying my hockey this year and feel that my game has improved a lot. I was gutted not to start for the firsts on Saturday as I feel I have made some strong performances lately. However, I understand there is a capable squad there and I just have to take my chance when I get it. I felt the injury early on in the seconds game but was determined to stay on and vent some of my frustration at being dropped."
Describing his first goal of the season which he scored for the seconds on Saturday Paul said -
"Phil Irwin did some great work down the wing and got round the back of the defence. I was sprinting to join in the attack and just getting in front of my marker called for Phil to pull the ball back to the penalty spot. Thankfully he resisted the temptation to shoot and laid on the perfect pass for me to slap the ball in. Its always nice to score but to score a good 'team goal' gives a lot more satisfaction."
Paul will be back in training and doing some work in the pool as soon as possible and by the new year he is determined to press a claim in the first XI once more!
