Stuart Wallace went to the Royal Victoria Hospital for a reassessment. It was decided that there is a need to stabilize the top three vertebrae. This will be done by inserting a metal plate. The operation will be carried out at the RVH, and although no date has been set, it will be done when the two surgeons required are available.
Stuart is, naturally, disappointed but accepts the necessity of the procedure. He was advised that a sudden jolt could cause severe damage to his upper spine. As a precaution he decided not to attend the Belfast Giants’ game this evening, feeling the potential risk was too great. It is now apparent that he will not be able to take part in contact sports in future.
Stuart continues to work on the movement of his limbs. He has been practising his handwriting, and will write with his left hand FROM now on as it is the stronger of the two. He is, as always, in good spirits and wishes his friends and colleagues well.
