By 3rd XI Captain A somewhat ad hoc 3rd XI made a bright start to their season at Downpatrick on Friday evening. Although playing on gravel for the first match the standard of stopping an passing was definitely above average. Geoff Riddell scored two thirds of the way through the first half after a competent build up and added a second shortly after the break. Down made a concerted effort to get back into the game and were rewarded with goal following a poor display of marking by the defence, however, Aaron Young put the result beyond question 10 minutes from the end with a well taken goal. On the whole a good performance, we will see what next week brings at home to Annadale.
