Match Report

By Jack

Saturday saw us travel to ballyclare to take on Parkview in what was going to be a toughly conteseted game with both teams suffering some surprising results in previous weeks!

It was our first game after last weeks disappionting draw with Crossgar! We saw this game as the ideal opportunity to try to get back on track because its a game that we aren’t expected to win so we were bound to play without as much pressure to win!

Once the whistle went for the start of the game we pressured the Parkview defence and midfield into surrendering possession on numerous occassions. The pressure we applied started to pay off as we were creating chances but just couldn’t convert them! Finally the first goal came through a well worked short corner which saw Neal Hermon striking the ball from just left of the left hand post past the Parkview keeper at an ackward height just of the ground! The second wasn’t long in coming and again it came from a short corner this time being converted by David Menaul never quite got hold of his flick but the Parkview defender could do nothing to stop it going in!

Half time came and went and unfortunately so did a lot of the East confidence, composure and again CONCENTRATION!For some unknown reason what we done in the first half was forgotten about and we tried to run the ball from everywhere on the pitch which in turn brought Parkview right back into the game and in the end they just about deserved to win!

Again when we get into a winning position from which we should go on and win the match comfortably we have managed tosnatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

What we can do to be able to concentrate on a game for 70 minutes instead of worrying about whats going on with umpires, off pitch issues and anything else thats going on during match time somebody knows!THAT SOMEBODY IS EACH AND EVERYONE OF THE SQUAD so some questions need to be asked and to be answered!
