Match Report

By Stephen Swann

This match was summed up by the opposition perfectly... "We took our chances, and you didn't".

Quite so. Bangor had few chances, but took them - one of which was a wonder goal! East Antrim never managed to get into the game in the first half properly. One or two chances came and went, but at the same time Bangor were building a 2 goal lead. Their right sided players were playing to a standard which defied their league status and they were the key to unlocking East's defence.

Moments into the second half and Bangor were 4-0 up. A wonder goal and a scrappy goal seemed to kick-start East into action. It was all one-way traffic after that as East won penalty corner after penalty corner. Unfortunately, the men in green seemed intent on walking the ball into the back of the net and our usual goal-scoring form seemed to evade us. One consolation goal - from Aaron Young - was all that we could show for our efforts.

To say that the result is disappointing is an understatement. It flatters Bangor, but as a unit we cannot afford to be so generous in future. There are tougher matches than Bangor to come up and we need to be much sharper all over the pitch - lock out the opposition and take our scoring opportunities!
