Match Report

By Hon Sec

You know the Gods are conspiring against you when you turn up on a saturday to hear one player has cried off injured and one player doesnt even bother to turn up!! (especially if its your goalkeeper!!) but thats exactly the position we found ourselves in, having to go to Armagh to play a team expecting to win the league.
The game started as we expected with Armagh creating some early chances only to be denied by George in nets. East then enjoyed a good spell of possesion and were able to push Armagh onto the back foot with Leon, Alan and Kriss working intricate triangles up the pitch. Then with two lightening breaks Armagh scored. Then fate conspired against us even more with David Kerr getting a leg injury and not able to run. Armagh then scored three more goals.
Half time and due to injury Dave valliantly offered to do nets to let george come out and help shore the defence. In the second half Armagh’s speed and pace told and they scored seven more goals. With Gregory Croft scoring seven in total.David Kerr acquitted himself brilliantly in nets considering this was his first time and thwarted some Armagh attacks. Although a dissapointing scoreline it doesnt reflect the way we played. And in the second half alone we had a couple of half chances to score and five or six short corners which we couldnt convert. The eleven players who travelled cannot be faulted for effort and commitment and if we keep the same spirit and attitude that we showed in adversity then results are soon going to come our way.
