CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FUNDRAISER

East Antrim Hockey Club have been innovators off the pitch in recent years. In keeping with that trend, the Club have announced a new mechanism for securing funds to help pay for their newly acquired coach – Gavin Weir.

An online score-predictor game was created during the summer as a “Proof of Concept” fundraising idea. The idea was that gamers could attempt to predict the scores of the Euro 2004 soccer matches and be awarded points for their accuracy. The Euro 2004 game was a great success and gamers demanded the ability to play with cash for prizes.

Legal reasons have prevented the Club from tackling a score-predicting game which covers the FA Premiership but no such restrictions are in force for the Champions League. Therefore, Europe’s premier footballing competition will be the focus of the next EAHC online game.

The Club’s webmaster explained the concept: “Basically, for a modest £5 entry fee, players can attempt to predict the scores of all the Champions League group matches. The player with the highest score will win a cash prize. There will also be prizes for 2nd and 3rd place as well as weekly spot prizes. We hope to get 200 players which will go some way towards this season’s bills.”

The payment handling, predictions and player’s “league” positions are all fully automated and built into East Antrim’s award winning web site and anyone can join in the fun at www.eastantrim.co.uk. However, the Champions League starts on September 14th so time is running out.
