Match Report

By Stephen Swann

11 East men against 10 Ban men would've suggested an easy Saturday afternoon for the men in green... but nah!

Second to the ball, lethargic on the ball, no movement into the open spaces, ball hogging and no awareness...

Maybe it was the bitter wind and the icy rain... maybe it was a sympton of a tiresome run-in to the end of the season.

Whatever, Banbridge made East look less than ordinary and the guys were never able to raise their game.

Nicholl and Swann had a chance each - both squandered. Outside of those bright spots, however, there was little to cheer other than sole efforts of George Tumilson.

Banbridge did get a goal at the beginning of the second half - enough to grab all the points and deservedly so.

Many thanks to East old boy, Peter McStea, for stepping into the breach at the last minute to act as an umpire. Skipper McKenna also took to the whistle...
